PODIATRIST

Department: Westside Neighborhood Clinic
Location: Isla Vista, CA

Job Summary: The Podiatrist will provide comprehensive foot and ankle care for patients of all ages in a community health setting. The Podiatrist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing foot and ankle disorders, with a strong focus on diabetic foot care, wound management, and preventive education. This role is critical in supporting the overall mission of the health center to provide accessible, high-quality care to underserved populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical exams and diagnostic assessments of foot and ankle conditions
  • Develop treatment plans and manage acute and chronic foot and ankle issues, including diabetic foot complications.
  • Provide wound care management, minor surgical procedures, orthotic fitting, and other podiatric interventions.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and specialists as part of an integrated care team.
  • Educate patients on foot care, hygiene, prevention of foot diseases, and proper footwear.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with HRSA/FQHC regulations and standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and community outreach events, as needed.
  • Will be traveling to multiple SBNC clinics.

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure:

  • Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from an accredited college of podiatric medicine.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM)
  • Valid state podiatry license (or eligible to obtain upon hire).
  • DEA registration (if prescribing controlled substances).

Experience:

  • Prior experience in community health, rural health, or underserved settings preferred
  • Experience in diabetic wound care and high-risk foot management strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Commitment to providing care to diverse and underserved populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic medical records (EMRs); experience with NextGen a plus.

Salary Range: $117.00 - $122.00 (PART TIME)
